Holly Corey has a passion for fashion.

In fact, she believes designing clothes is what she was born to do.

The senior fashion design and merchandising major recently took a step toward realizing her dream when one of her dress designs was selected for the 2011 International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) Design Exhibition in Philadelphia. Holly's dress design was one of only 66 designs accepted for the live gallery exhibit.

Holly originally made the dress, which was inspired by Brazilian Carnivale, for a flat pattern class at WVU. The reversible design incorporates feathers, hard metals, and bright colors.

Eventually, Holly wants to create her own clothing label and sell her pieces in retail stores.

“Having my own label is a few years in the future,” she said. “In the meantime, I want to work with other designers until I understand the business aspect really well.”

After she graduates in August, Holly will travel to South America to do an internship with a fashion designer in Argentina.
