Admission Requirements

In order to apply for admission to WVU, you must complete the undergraduate application form and pay the application fee. Make sure you complete all information, including your major and social security number and indicate "Transfer" as your student type.

Course Descriptions
To assure accurate evaluation of credit, send course descriptions for any courses you have completed and/or in which you are currentlyenrolled that you feel would need further clarification to go2wvu@mail.wvu.edu. This is not required for students transferring from other West Virginia institutions. Please do not send complete catalogs.

Transcripts
Request official transcripts from all institutions you have attended. Please have the transcripts sent directly to WVU from the Registrar’s Office of the institution(s) you have attended. We do not accept transcripts that have been issued to the student or facsimile (FAX) transcripts. Please note that in order to be considered for admission, you must have transcripts sent to us from all institutions you have attended, even if you did not do well at one of the institutions.

In addition, if you are transferring with less than 29 transferable credits, you must have an official high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores sent to us. Please ask your high school to mark the transcript: “FOR TRANSFER ADMISSION.” Failure to do this may slow your admission. If you have been out of high school for 5 or more years, no test scores are required.

Deadlines
In order to process your application, we must have all of the above material by August 1 for fall admission and by December 1 for spring admission. We recommend you apply as early as possible.

Immunizations

To ensure the health and safety of our campus, immunization against communicable diseases is extremely important. Vaccination against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) and Meningitis is required of all transfer students. Documentation of these immunizations must be submitted to the Office of Admissions prior to enrollment in the initial entry semester.
